    Happy Thanksgiving Day!

    Happy Thanksgiving Day!

    When is Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving always falls on the fourth Thursday of November. This year Thanksgiving  is on Thursday, November 23. In the US, offices, businesses and schools remain closed on Thanksgiving Day  with many extending holiday on the Friday after, too, making it a four-day weekend.

What to make for a classic Thanksgiving Dinner?

The traditional Thanksgiving meal revolves around turkey, to the point where Thanksgiving is sometimes colloquially called Turkey Day. Most Thanksgiving turkeys are stuffed with a mix of bread cubes, chopped celery, carrots, onions and sage for roasting. Chestnuts, chopped bacon or sausage, and raisins or apples are also sometimes included in the stuffing (also known as dressing).
The turkey is usually served with cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy. Yams or sweet potatoes are another important part of Thanksgiving dinner and is often served as a side-dish. Pumpkin pie is the most popular dessert of Thanksgiving.

    How is the day celebrated?

Many big cities hold a Thanksgiving Day parade, the most famous of which is the Macy's parade in New York City – an annual pageant of floats, cheerleaders, marching bands and gigantic helium balloons in the shape of cartoon characters including Mickey Mouse and Felix the Cat.
Football (the American version) plays a major role in Thanksgiving. Playing and watching American football is a long held Thanksgiving tradition. The National Football League has played over the Thanksgiving weekend practically since the game's invention, and it's one of the biggest days in the football calendar.
Family members usually come together, give thanks and participate in the Thanksgiving dinner. Many also schedule a weekend vacation to get away from the chaos in the cities and enjoy a nice break.

    The One

I held her in my arms
    And kissed her tenderly
I knew our love would last
    Throughout eternity

    She was the sweetest girl
    So lovely, fair and fun
I blessed the day we met
I knew she was the one

    And then she fell asleep
    This angel I adored
    A smile graced her face
    As she began to snore

The sound would wake a dead man
    So eerie was her roar
    I could only ponder
    Where is the exit door?

I thought she was so special
This girl was mine for keeps
    But that could only happen
    If she never fell asleep

It was our final date that night

    November

    November

    November comes
    And November goes,
    With the last red berries
    And the first white snows.

    With night coming early,
    And dawn coming late,
    And ice in the bucket
    And frost by the gate.

    The fires burn
    And the kettles sing,
    And earth sinks to rest
    Until next spring."

    History of Azerbaijani Flag Day

    History of Azerbaijani Flag Day

The Azerbaijani Democratic Republic adopted the Azerbaijani tricolor as the national flag of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on 9 November 1918.
The flag was flown until 1920, when Azerbaijan became part of the Soviet Union. It wasn't until 1991, and the break up of the Soviet Union, that the Azerbaijani flag flew once again when the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan Republic announced a tricolor flag with a star and a crescent as the national flag of Azerbaijan on 5 February 1991.
The state flag is a symbol of Azerbaijan's national sovereignty and to highlight its importance to Azerbaijan, on 17 November 2009, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to declare 9 November as National Flag Day and a legal holiday.
To honour the flag, the National Flag Square in Baku was officially opened by President Ilham Aliyev on 1 September 2010.
Each year on 9 November, hundreds of people gather in the National Flag Square to watch a ceremony to raise Azerbaijan`s tricolor as the country marks National Flag Day. Confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records, the tricolor flies on the tallest flagpole in the world. The flag itself measures 70 meters high by 35 meters wide and weights 350 kg.

    Flag of Azerbaijan

The flag of Azerbaijan consists of three equal horizontal bands of blue, red, and green. In the center red band, there is a white crescent and an eight-pointed star. Blue represents Azerbaijan's Turkic heritage, red symbolises progress, and green represents Islam. The flag was first used during the period of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic and was re-adopted on February 5, 1991.
The design and dimensions of the flag are actually included in the constitution of Azerbaijan.
State flag of the Azerbaijan Republic consists of three horizontal stripes of same width. Upper stripe is blue, middle stripe is red, and the lower one is green; in the middle of red stripe on both sides of the flag white crescent with eight-pointed star are depicted. Width of the flag constitutes half of its length.

    Teachers and Teaching

    Hello,dear learners!

Today I'd like to share my thoughts about teaching and teachers.I have been a teacher for 42 years and can state, that it is is not a profession, it's a way of life.Only those who love teaching are able to feel how excited this profession is.

No doubt, only well-educated person are to be a TEACHER. If you want to become a teacher, you should do your best to get more knowledge to share them with your future students. And what is more, never stop learning new things. Remember, our students represent a new generation and they love teachers with wide outlook. So,it will be better for you if you   are curious and hard-working.

The real teacher is a tolerant person. There are a lot of  different people around him/ her :students, their parents, colleagues- and it's not always easy to cooperate and communicate with them. However,  if you are patient and tolerant, be sure, you'll soon be among your  friends. You  should only be attentive to  each student you are teaching, take care of him/her and try to help him/ her.

So, a TEACHER is a caring and helpful person. We shouldn't forget, that each of our students needs our attention and respect. You know how cruel life is, and a Teacher have to make it a bit easier for those who suffer at home or at school. Teachers and their students are like a family with strong ties which connect them through years.

What is more, a TEACHER is an interesting personality, active and enthusiastic. He/she can organize parties, excursions, contests, his/her students are always involved in creative activities, they study new things together, they try to make world better, they don't only study a subject, they study the world around. If a teacher is a Teacher his /her students begin to think the way he/ she thinks , because they trust him/ her greatly. This is the most important part of our profession:teachers form the future generation.

As for me, I'm a happy person. I have met a lot of TEACHERS . Some of them were my teachers and helped me to choose the profession , some of them are my colleagues. Each of them taught me their lessons of selfless devotion to this profession.

    My November Guest

    Robert Frost    "My November Guest"
    James-Tissot
    Painter James Tissot
    Hello!

    Let's welcome November!
The third autumn month comes with sharp winds, grey clouds, drizzling rains, bare trees. This month is colourless, chill and dull.

What can change it into the most beautiful season? Love, and only love.

To my mind ,this marvelous poem wonderfully explains the feelings of lovers

"My November Guest" (by Robert Frost)

My sorrow, when she’s here with me,
Thinks these dark days of autumn rain
    Are beautiful as days can be;
    She loves the bare, the withered tree;
She walks the sodden pasture lane.

Her pleasure will not let me stay.
She talks and I am fain to list:
She’s glad the birds are gone away,
She’s glad her simple worsted gray
Is silver now with clinging mist.

    The desolate, deserted trees,
The faded earth, the heavy sky,
The beauties she so truly sees,
She thinks I have no eye for these,
And vexes me for reason why.

Not yesterday I learned to know
The love of bare November days
Before the coming of the snow,
But it were vain to tell her so,
And they are better for her praise
